Design-Build Team Selected for Maryland’s I-270 Congestion Management Project
ABINGDON, MD - April 26, 2017 - A design-build team made up of 16 companies has been selected for the $100 million Interstate 270 Innovative Congestions Management Project in Montgomery County, Maryland – a project designed to cut 30 minutes off of morning commutes from Frederick, Maryland, to I-495.
Gov. Larry Hogan announced the plan last summer for the corridor that sees 79,400 vehicles each day on the north end and 261,200 vehicles per day on the end near I-495, also known as the Capital Beltway.
“We are committed to finding the best ideas that offer real solutions, and I am excited to see innovation in action when it comes to solving the problems of congestion here on I-270,” Hogan says. “Moving forward on critical priority infrastructure is important to Montgomery County, to all of our local jurisdictions, and to economic development statewide, and we are very pleased to be able to announce that all of these important projects are being started.”
The team selected for the project includes:
- Concrete General (prime contractor), Gaithersburg, Maryland
- Rummel, Klepper, & Kahl (lead design firm), Baltimore, Maryland
- Bruce & Merrilees Electric, Abingdon, Maryland
